Power Business

Torrent Power is one of the leading brands in the Indian Power sector. It is an integrated power utility and is one of the largest private sector players in India having interests in power generation, transmission, distribution and manufacturing and supply of power cables.

Torrent Power foresaw the prospects in the power sector much before the liberalization, when it took-over and successfully turned around an ailing power cable company Mahendra Electricals, renaming it as ‘TCL Cables Private Limited.’ The high points of Torrent’s foray into power however were the acquisitions of two of the India’s oldest utilities – The Surat Electricity Company Ltd and The Ahmedabad Electricity Company Ltd. City Gas Distribution Business

Torrent Gas Limited (‘Torrent Gas’) is a company incorporated in 2018 Torrent Group has forayed into City Gas Distribution business to meet another critical need – Green Fuel – in different parts of India. Torrent Gas has its presence in 17 Geographical areas spread across 34 districts, 7 States and one union-territory in India. The Company is in the business of city gas distribution and has authorizations to lay, build, operate or expand city or local natural gas distribution network in specified geographical areas.

The Company has expanded the capacity of corrugated EHV cables, established a state-of-the-art capacity for production of high-grade copper conductor, which will add to the portfolio of power cables and also established a new facility for the manufacture of Instrumentation and Control Cables.

We also have an in-house facility to cater to all Routine, Type, Acceptance and Special Tests with a very well-equipped R&D centre, which has made it possible to develop new products, new compounds, analyse material and products.
